Chinese characters is one of the difficulties for foreign students when they are learning Chinese.Beyond all doubt,there are reasons for the difficulty of Chinese characters itself,but the weakness of teaching and learning is the key to the this problem.How to make it easier and how to truly practice different teaching methods for different countries in teaching Chinese to foreigners is worthy of discussion and research.After using the research methods of referring previous research results,combining teaching experience and surveying,it was found that though there are some students afraid of learning Chinese characters,many students still fond of learning it in the Confucius Institute at North South University,Bangladesh.Why are some students afraid of learning Chinese characters,while some students can learn Chinese characters very well and feel it not difficult? There are many reasons for this.Some of these reasons are common and some are individual.From the perspective of the three elements of classroom teaching and learning,the common reasons are the lack of professional knowledge of Chinese teachers,the impractical of Chinese characters' teaching and learning,and not scientific enough of Chinese textbooks.The individual reasons come from different countries and regions.As far as the Confucius Institute at North South University is concerned,such as the weakness of Chinese teachers' team,the short development time of Chinese in Bangladesh,and the fear of students,are the main causes of Chinese characters' problem.These reasons and the corresponding solutions are different from countries to countries in teaching Chinese characters and need to be distinguished and observed.The analysis of the problem and the experience of overseas frontline teachers provided a new idea for the teaching and learning of Chinese characters in the primary stage of teaching Chinese to foreigners,and made the theoretical knowledge tested and proved.
