Regional culture and traditional brands are closely linked to people's lives,and numerous elements can offer a large number of visual resources for designing.With the market development,a lot of foreign culture blends with our traditional culture,and foreign aesthetic has brought about an unprecedented impact on traditional aesthetic which makes traditional brands and the heritage and development of regional culture face great challenges.Traditional brands of our country are also facing the dilemma of recession and aging,and outdated packaging design of traditional brands is badly in need of the improvements of the visual image.Based on the above background,this paper will do a study on the application of graphic elements of regional culture in packaging design of traditional brands,in order to improve the quality and competitiveness and provide some new opinions.From the perspective of visual communication,this study firstly interprets the aesthetic features of graphic elements of regional culture by design aesthetic,design psychology,art visual psychology.Next,by analyzing the case about the current situation of traditional packaging design,the requirement of traditional packaging design and the redesign intention of graphic elements of regional culture are obtained.The evolution rules of traditional brands and packaging design are summarized through dissecting the development of traditional brands at home and abroad.After that,tease the redesign elements,and reestablish the visual expression of graphic elements of regional culture in traditional packaging design by the ways of symbolic extraction,simplification and remodeling and recursive integration.In order to improve the visual experience about packaging design of traditional brands that applies the combination of "hollow out" design elements and graphic elements of regional culture.Lastly,as an example,the packaging design of "Tianjin Guifaxiang 18 th street twist",using the regional graphic elements of Tianjin to redesign,and provide a reference for the packaging redesign of traditional brands from a practical point of view;meanwhile,it can contribute to the application of visual elements of regional folk art in traditional packaging design.With the inheritance and development of regional culture,that can promote the quality and value of packaging design of traditional brands.
