Murals are an ancient form of artistic expression.Koguryo tomb murals have a history of more than one hundred years since the beginning of excavation. There are numerous related researches in the academia, including a series of achievements such as archaeological excavation reports, literature and research overviews.By contrast, the tomb murals of the Han dynasty in Liaoyang are still in the initial stage of research due to the lack of historical materials. However, the artistic attainments of the murals in the tomb of the Han dynasty in Liaoyang cannot be ignored. From the perspective of cultural origin, they are both influenced by the Central Plains culture and have quite similar characteristics. However, there are obvious differences in the content, painting techniques and historical significance of the tomb murals. At present, there is no comparative study between them yet. This paper takes the Koguryo ancient tomb murals and the Liaoyang Han tomb murals as the original literature material, uses the literature analysis method to carry on the comparison to them, aims to explore the correlation, inheritance and difference between them. After the analysis and comparison,it provides reference for people to further understand the historical value and significance of the murals,in order to restore the historical situation and cultural background behind the murals.
