As a very important part of the history of painting, Tomb murals appeared in theearly period of our country’s society development. It is not only the luxury livingrecord of aristocracy, but also the ideal life realm of aristocracy that they wanted topursuit when they passed away. More importantly, we could know about theunderstanding of people toward living and death in that historical period from theunearthed Tomb murals.Tomb murals appeared all over the country. Every nation and district all formdifferent art characteristics, which has different content, form and language. Theappearance of every thing has its own path of developing and improving. So does Ji’an koguryo’s Tomb murals. As the northeast frontier subsidiary domain in our country,it inherited the culture of central China absolutely with time passing and graduallyform a relatively unique painting content and forms.Comparing the date of appearance, background and thinking, content, form andother aspects of Central China’s Tomb murals with Ji ’an koguryo’s Tomb murals inHan and Tang dynasties, it chooses the representative tombs for example: JiaoDiTomb, WuTong Tomb, WuKui Tomb, AnYue Tomb, Shuang Ying Tomb and JiangxiTomb. This paper presents writer’s own opinions about a lot of disputed points fromthe angle of painting and all kinds of relations between Central China’s Tomb muralsand Ji’an koguryo’s Tomb murals. The writer could abstract traditional paintingessence and apply in contemporary painting creation practice in this process.
