The translation report is written on basis of E-C translation of two essays concerning the South China Sea on Center for Strategic and International Studies(CSIS)website. The first essay describes the development trends in the South China Sea and U.S.policy and the second essay shows a regional blueprint for cooperation and South China Sea disputes. The dispute of the South China Sea has been one of the regional hot issues in recent years. Therefore, the selected texts with depth of thought are of great significance to grasp the international situation and safeguard state sovereignty. As a political text, the language of the source text is concise, accurate, precise and has political sensitivity, especially when it comes to legal claims. The translation reports about South China Sea are not a few in recent years, but there are no reports written by “comprehension, expression and adaptation” analytical framework.Guided by the framework of “comprehension, expression and adaptation”set forth by Li Changshuan, the report describes how to live up to accurate comprehension, smooth expression and flexible adaptation from the aspect of narrative mode, language construction and the substantial content.Based on this framework, the translator makes a detailed analysis of translation problem and summarizes various translation methods such as eliminating structural ambiguity by the context, arranging actions in chronological order, accommodating the translation to the order of the original text by putting a word into noun and verb.Besides, the idea of “Translators are communicators” and “Translation is Writing” are followed by the translator in the whole process of translation to make the translation concise and conform to Chinese usage.Through this practice, the translator not only gains a lot about translation methods ofpolitical text but also improve translation ability and logical thinking ability, and expands a new understanding of translation. At the same time, the translator hopes the report can provide reference to study translation of South China Sea texts.
