The E-C Translation Of Eco-Translation:Translation And Ecology In The Age Of The Anthropocene (Chapter 5) And A Report On The Translation

The source text is the fifth chapter of Eco-Translation: Translation and Ecology in the Age of the Anthropocene by Michael Cronin.In the book,Cronin studies translation from an ecological perspective and discusses the relationship between human practice “translation” and natural ecological environment in the anthropocene.To introduce the research fruits in the book to Chinese readers,and to make them have the same reading experience as the source text readers do,Hans Vermeer's Skopos Theory is selected as the guidance for the translation practice.As the source text is an academic work with rigorous wording and complex sentence structure,many long difficult sentences and proper nouns in the text bring some difficulties to the translator.Also different cohesive ways between Chinese and English pose troubles.Hence,under the guidance of Skopos Theory,translation techniques such as annotation and division are applied to the translation practice.It proves that Skopos Theory offers guidance in translating academic work.Translating the book will not only help strengthen human's awareness of protecting ecology,thereby promoting the sustainable development of human society,but also offer practical implications for the future ecological research.
