This thesis is a translation practice report. The translator selects the tenth, eleventh and twelfth chapter of the book Position Doubtful: Mapping Landscapes and Memories written by the white Australian writer Kim Mahood as translation practice. The book is an autobiographical travelogue,a journey for seeking the author's root, and we can learn features in the description of Aboriginal culture and the relationship between white people and indigenous people in the eyes of the white by translating the source text. The tenth chapter of the book takes us into the Canning Stock Route, revisiting the history of the indigenous ancestors from the perspective of the indigenous people, and understanding the pioneering history of the route from the perspective of the white. The eleventh chapter takes us into the map with extraordinary significance. It records not only location and distance, but also the stories of the indigenous people. The twelfth chapter takes us into how the white live in remote indigenous communities and how to deal with the relationship with indigenous people. These three chapters are nothing but indispensable parts of understanding Australian Aboriginal people and their culture. In this translation practice report, the translator introduces the research background and significance at first, and briefly introduces the author, the source text, the selected chapters and the translation process. Then the translator analyzes the problems and difficulties encountered in the translation process and proposes corresponding solutions. Finally, the translator summarizes the translation practice. This report consists of five chapters, with the third and fourth chapters being the key chapters along with introduction, translation project description and conclusion. The third chapter expounds the difficulties encountered in the translation process from the two aspects: how to be faithful to the source text and how to keep to expressive in the target language. The fourth chapter lists the translation methods used to solve the above problems, and the translator uses literal translation method to translate the corresponding sentence patterns in the source text, such as the emphasis sentence,as...as structure,in order that the target text can maintain the original form and syntactic features as much as possible. To reproduce the style of the source text, the translator uses the method of free translation and translation variation to make the target text more fluent and expressive, and in line with the expression habits of the target language readers.Through this translation practice, basing on the first two translation standards of faithfulness, expressiveness and elegance, the translator uses translation methods such as literal translation, free translation and translation variation to solve the difficulties encountered in the translation process and improves her translation ability, hoping that the translation practice report will provide references for translators who study Australian Aboriginal or those people who are interested in this part.
