In the 1980 s,some large agricultural countries in North America put forward the concept of Precision Agriculture Technologies(PAT).The so-called Precision Agriculture Technologies refers to the precise operation of agricultural production on the basis of 3S technology, decision support technology and intelligent technology equipment. This E-C translation practice material is selected from MDPI AG journal and belongs to English for Science and Technology. It mainly discusses the positive contribution of precision agriculture technology to reduce greenhouse gases, improve agricultural production and develop the economy.Scientific and technological translation plays an important role in promoting the development of social economy. Therefore, the continuous improvement of the quality of scientific and technological translation will have a direct impact on social and economic development. The style of science and technology texts has the characteristics of clarity, accuracy, conciseness and strictness.Compound words and acronyms,nominalization-structures,long sentences, passive sentences and modifiers will be widely used in the texts. The characteristics mentioned above determine the characteristics of English translation of texts, such as professional style, creativity, accuracy, objectivity, and effectiveness.Under the guidance of Newmark’s communicative translation theory, this paper analyzes and studies the translation strategies of scientific and technological texts from the aspects of vocabulary, syntax and logical structure, and further draws the relevant practical experience. This translation practice report will be divided into four parts: the first part discusses the purpose and significance of the translation practice report, and briefly introduces the development of precision agriculture at home and abroad. The second part is the translation process. This part gives a brief overview of the author’s preparatory work before translation, including reading parallel texts and related materials in agronomic English, and the combination of literal translation and free translation in the process of translation. After translation, help is sought from students and teachers to revise. The third part is the core of this report, which uses communicative translation theory to explore the translation skills and strategies of proper nouns, passive sentences and long difficult sentences. The fourth part discusses the experience gained in the whole translation practice: some professional expressions related to agronomy and some long difficult sentences. The purpose of this translation practice report is to study the translation of agronomic English and to provide references for the same type of texts in the future. |
