| During the formulation of the Tenth Five-Year Plan,the central authorities officially put forward the “Going Out” strategy.In this context,government portals at all levels in China have successively launched English website for publicity.The official website of Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Jilin Province is a platform for agricultural publicity.It is of great practical significance to promote the content of this section through translation.This practice report is based on the Chinese-English translation materials of the official website of Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Jilin Province.According to Newmark’s Text Typology theory,the text of the above-mentioned materials are mainly featured by mainly informative text.In order to achieve the purpose of agricultural publicity on the government website,the translator adopts corresponding strategies based on the communicative translation theory,trying to create the same reading experience on the target readers as close as possible to that obtained on the original readers.This practice report analyzes the difficulties in the process of Chinese-English translation through translation cases.At the lexical and phrase level,the translator uses translation strategies such as information retrieval,annotation,conversion and amplification to solve the problems.While at the syntactic level,problems lie in the translation of non-subject sentences and sentences with four-character structure,and strategies such as adding subject and combination are used to achieve the faithfulness and readability of the translation.This proves that Newmark’s communicative translation theory plays an important guiding role in the Chinese-English translation of the agricultural mechanization section on the official website of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Jilin Province. |
