A Report On The E-C Translation Of AI And Prosthetics

With the development of biological science and technology,the research and development of intelligent artificial limbs home and abroad has witnessed considerable advances.In this field,it is the foreign institutions and companies that are taking the leading role;however,domestically,we can find rather limited translation materials of relevant areas to draw experience from.Quality translation of such cutting-edge scientific and technical documents,therefore,is going to play an increasingly important role in the improvement of internal research and development of artificial limbs,as well as in the enhancement of Sino-foreign exchanges in scientific and technological fields.This report is based on the translation practice of the thesis AI and Prosthetics,which belongs to the scientific text,featuring characteristics like accuracy,brevity,objectivity,logicality and coherence.Under the guidance of the Skopos theory,the author has translated the full text of the material,and on this basis,in combination with the three principles of Skopos theory,has carried out certain research on the translation strategies and skills of English scientific texts at three levels,including lexical terms,syntax and discourse.These strategies and skills are employed in the translation of technical terms,the conversion of word classes,the translation of postpositive attributes,the handling of long complex sentences,the translation of passive sentences,the adjustment of discourse cohesion,and the translation of charts and tables etc.Through this thesis,the author wishes to demonstrate the applicability of translation theories and provide due reference for future translators and researchers.
