The interpersonal relationship of college students is significantly related to their mental health.This paper attempts to explain the source and nature of interpersonal distress from the perspective of self differentiation and adult attachment.The study including 340 college students,Through literature analysis and quantitative empirical research,from the aspects of self differentiation,adult attachment and interpersonal relationship,especially investigated the mediating effect of adult attachment between self differentiation and interpersonal relationship.Conclusions drawn in this thesis are as follows:(1)In this study,58%of college students have interpersonal problems,of which there are serious problems of college students in 10.6%,this may be due to the contradiction between the increasing demand of interpersonal communication and the stagnation of communicative competence and the cultural environment.Interpersonal communication and interpersonal conversation in two dimensions of the problem is particularly prominent.Girls showed more advantages than the boys in the interpersonal relationship;students of liberal arts showed more advantages than science students;postgraduates showed more advantages than lower grade students;students experienced love showed more advantages than have no experienced students,this may be related to social expectations,living environment and experience.There was no significant difference with other demographic variables.(2)In this-study,-32.3%of College Students' self differentiation is below the average level,it shows that most college students can think rationally,balance intimacy and independence,a small number of students have more upward space in this area.Boys showed more advantages than the girls in self position;students of liberal arts showed more advantages than science students in fusion with others;postgraduates showed more advantages than lower grade students in fusion with others,emotional cutoff and all scales.There was no significant difference with other demographic variables.(3)In this study,57.94%of the college students were safe attachment,it shows that most of the students can experience the pleasure and comfort in interpersonal interaction.Students experienced love showed more advantages than have no experienced students in proximity,the dimension of anxiety vice versa;postgraduates showed more advantages than lower grade students in proximity,the dimension of anxiety vice versa,this may be related to the individual's experience and life experience.There was no significant difference with other demographic variables.(4)There is a significant correlation between self differentiation,adult attachment and interpersonal relationship.Self-differentiation,interpersonal relationship and close-dependence are significantly positive correlation.Self-differentiation,interpersonal relationship and anxiety are significantly negative correlation.Self differentiation degree is higher,establish intimacy with others is more easily,feel isolated or abandon less,the interpersonal relationship more harmonious.(5)On the one hand,self differentiation is directly related to interpersonal relationship,on the other hand,it plays an important role in interpersonal relationship through the close attachment and anxiety dimension of adult attachment.Adult attachment has a partial intermediating effect between self differentiation and interpersonal relationship.The partial intermediating effect ratio of dimension of proximity was 13.55%;The partial intermediating effect ratio of dimension of anxiety was 12.42%.
