A Study On The Inheritance And Revitalization Of "Su Zuo" Crafts

The "Su Zuo" crafts mainly refers to the Suzhou traditional handicrafts and its products which have rich regional characteristics and embody delicate,exquisite and elegant aesthetic features,as well as superb craftsmanship.Its content is roughly the same as Suzhou traditional handicrafts or "Su Shi" arts and crafts.Suzhou is an important producing area of Chinese traditional handicrafts.The "Su Zuo" crafts represented by Su embroidery and Su Zuo Jade carving are well-known throughout the country and even in the world.The progress of the protection of intangible cultural heritage as well as the release of "Chinese Traditional Craft Revitalization Plan" have brought new research topics to the "Su Zuo" crafts.This paper,based exactly on this background and the existing researches,is looking forward to being beneficial to the revitalization of current Chinese traditional crafts by trying to systematically sort out the concept,connotation and development history of "Su Zuo"crafts,analyzing the theories and practices of"Su Zuo" crafts'protection and inheritance,summarizing the problems and experiences of inheritance and development of Zhenhu Su embroidery and Guangfu jade carving,and exploring the strategies and paths of "Su Zuo" crafts revitalization.This paper consists of five chapters.The first chapter is an introduction part.It mainly introduces the original cause and significance of the research.From the perspective of the development of Chinese traditional handicrafts and world's handicrafts,this paper discusses the meaning of the inheritance and revitalization of"Su Zuo" crafts for the protection of intangible cultural heritage also for the revitalization of Chinese traditional crafts.Besides,this paper combs through the present situation and the drawbacks of the research of "Su Zuo" crafts,expounds the practical significance of choosing the concept,"Su Zuo",as the object of study,and the case significance as well as the theoretical value of the research of the inheritance and revitalization of Zhenghu Su embroidery and Guangfu Jade carving.The second chapter mainly expounds the concept,connotation and development history of "Su Zuo" crafts.This part discusses the relationship between "Su Zuo","Su Zuo Furniture" and "Su Zuo" Crafts,also the different concepts and connotations of the "Su Zuo" crafts.By differentiating and analyzing of relevant historical concepts,such as "Su Shi","Su Yang" and "Su Yi",this paper clarifies the historical basis and industry foundation of the formation and development of "Su Zuo" crafts.By using the research results in the fields of arts and crafts,folk arts and the others for references,and considering the related characteristics between intangible cultural heritage and "Su Zou" crafts,this paper roughly divides the "Su Zou" crafts into six categories,namely weaving and embroidery crafts,sculpture crafts,stationery,decoration,metal crafts and other crafts,also this paper further elaborates the style and characteristics of "Su Zou" crafts,introduces the development history of "Su Zuo"crafts,especially the important influence to it which is brought by the participation of the literati class in Ming and Qing dynasties.The third chapter mainly combs through the history and present situation of Zhenhu Su embroidery and Guangfu jade carving.This part elaborates the development courses,present situations and relevant experiences of Zhenhu Su embroidery and Guangfu jade carving in details.The first section introduces the culture and history of Su embroidery,and discusses the rise and development of Zhenhu Su embroidery.The second section introduces the historical traditions and contemporary transformation of Su Zuo jade carvings,also discusses the rise,development and present situation of Guangfu jade carving.The fourth chapter mainly discusses the protection and inheritance issues about"Su Zuo" crafts.This part first discusses the "Su Zuo" crafts as the protection object of intangible cultural heritage,and combs through the "Su Zuo" crafts projects in the list of those intangible cultural heritage representative works which are at or above the city level.Secondly,it discusses the exploration and practice of the productive protection mode of the intangible cultural heritage and the " Su Zou "crafts.Finally,from the aspects of the construction of representative inheritors' team,the cultivation of inheritance talents,the protection and inheritance of traditional techniques and themes,the construction of transmission places,the implementation of inheritance activities and the publicity and education and so on,this paper introduces the present situation and experience of protection and inheritance of Zhenhu Su embroidery and Guangfu jade carving.And discusses the related problems and countermeasures of inheritance and development of Zhenhu Su embroidery and Guangfu jade carving.The fifth chapter is a further discussion on the basis of the previous text.Combined with the main tasks of the "Chinese Traditional Craft Revitalization Plan"and the practical experiences in those local traditional craft revitalization,the strategy and path for "Su Zuo" crafts revitalization are discussed.The first section discusses the problems related to the cultivation of "Su Zuo" crafts talents,and puts forward to improving the multi-level "Su Zuo" crafts talents cultivation system by relying on various ways such as school education,industry training and social education.By taking the opportunity of "China intangible cultural heritage inheritor group learning and training plan",to improve inheritance skills and the practical ability of the "Su Zuo" crafts inheritor groups,to improve cultural confidence,enhance inheritance stamina and promote the sustainable development of " Su Zuo" crafts.The second section discusses the modern transformation problem of the "Su Zuo" crafts,promoting the modern transformation of the "Su Zuo" crafts with modern design concepts,and promoting the design innovation of the "Su Zuo" crafts products from the elements of traditional crafts,functions,materials and forms.The third section discusses the problem of the "Su Zuo" crafts' entering modern life,through the diversified development and differentiated positioning of "Su Zuo" crafts products,the application of market thoughts,the restoration and reconstruction of the traditional crafts cultural ecology and the life styles and so on,this paper explores more possibilities of "Su Zuo" crafts,also strengthen the publicity and implements of the"Su Zuo" crafts related experience activities,promote the "Su Zuo" crafts' integrating into daily life.
