Chinesische Grammatik-Mit Ausschluss des niederen Stiles und der heutigen Umgangssprache(1881)is a work of ancient Chinese grammar written in German, whose author is a German linguist, sinologist—Hans Georg von der Gabelentz(1840-1893).From the perspective of the entire history of Chinese studies,Chinesische Grammatik is a great Chinese grammar book, which is the first systematic ancient Chinese grammar book in the world. In spite of this, the studies of specific issues of Chinesische Grammatik are still insufficient.Based on the previous studies, this dissertation focuses on the related issues with the verbs in Chinesische Grammatik. The dissertation is divided into six parts. In the first part——introduction,it introduces the research object Chinesische Grammatik and its author, then reviews and explains the background, status, current problems, purpose, significance and methodology of the research,as well as the reference version and the annotation. The second chapter summarizes the dividing criterion of word class, the concept and classification of verbs in Chinesische Grammatik. It emphasizes Gabelentz's grammatical thought of syntactic priority in Chinese study, whose word classification is based on the syntactic function and basic meaning of the word. This has a leading significance in the history of Chinese. The third chapter focuses on answering two questios:transformation of other parts of speech into verbs and verbs into other parts of speech.Other parts of speech can be converted into verbs, including the uses of nouns, adjectives, verbs as vebs, and the creation of new verbs by altering tone and character;on the other hand, verbs can be converted into other parts of speech, including the conative usage of verbs and the use of verbs as nouns. The fourth, fifth and sixth chapters are the focus of the full text.Gabelentz follows the principle of syntactic priority in Chinese study, and focuses on describing the basic law of Chinese sentences:the law of word order. The study of verbs by Gabelentz is mainly focused on the theory of the combination of verbs and verbs, verbs and static words, and verbs and adverbs. Therefore, the fourth, fifth, and sixth chapters focus on the analysis of the word order theory of Gabelentz. The concluding part is a summary of the full text.Through the specific analysis of verbs,it affirms the historical contribution of Chinesische Grammatik by Gabelentz, and highlights the value and significance of Gabelentz's grammar thought and research achievements to contemporary Chinese research.
