This report aims to discuss how the author finishes her translation of Diary of a Human Target-Tainted Youth(?????-?????)under the guidance of the Skopos Theory in stages of pre-translation preparation,translating process and post-translation assessment.The author tentatively proposes possible solutions to challenges emerging in the course of translating diary novel.Diary novel is characterized with mature artistic techniques,focusing on self-revelation and emotional displays,especially in demonstrating cultural characteristics.Diary of a Human Target-Tainted Youth(?????-?????)was written by Isidora Vey(???????).It tells the growth of Yvonne(???)from her childhood to the adulthood(1963.6.21-1990.2.28).As a little girl,Yvonne behaves differently from other children for she is quiet and plays no tricks on others.However,her neighbors and classmates regard such innocence and kindness as foolishness.The source text involves rich psychological activities and dialogues made by characters.Comparatively speaking,it is difficult o figure out proper strategies which can reveal the plain language,rich psychological activities and stylistic features while meeting C hinese readers'aesthetic expectation.At the same time,texts of campus violence are of great educational and practical significance.Theoretical deduction and case analysis are mainly used in this report.First,the author puts the Skopos Theory into practice.She attempts to explore translation strategies focusing on long and difficult sentences,onomatopoeia and interjections,rhetoric devices,dialogues,psychological activities,culturally-loaded words and so on.She explains her translation process in details summarizes difficulties and problems in a systematic way and explores the feasibility of Skopos Theory in diary novel translation.She also concludes basic techniques such as amplification,omission,zero translation,inversion,repetition,explanation.Finally,the author reviews her translating process in details and explains its findings and limitations so that she can have a clearer understanding of her translation level and continue to improve her performance in translation and task organization. |
