A Practice Report On Chinese Translation Of Attributive Clauses Of Trade Diplomacy Transformed From The Perspective Of Translation Variation Theory

Attributive clause is a difficult point in translation practice.The structure of attributive clauses is complex,diverse and varied,and there are great differences between Chinese and English language structures.If some attributive clauses are translated literally or concurrently,they will cause words to fail to convey what the source language wants to express.This puts forward higher requirements for translators.It is necessary to flexibly apply the theoretical knowledge and skills of translation to restore the central ideas that the source language wants to convey according to the syntactic structure and sentence pattern characteristics of different attributive clauses.In concrete terms,when translating attributive clauses,it is necessary to clarify the stem of the sentence,to split it according to grammatical and logical rationality,to use appropriate translation means,or to convert the attributive clause according to the logical relationship between the subject and the following clause.Form a translation that conforms to the characteristics of the Chinese language,so as to facilitate the interpretation of the reader.The attributive clauses in English economic academic monographs are very prominent,and there will be certain difficulties in translation.Exploring these translation difficulties will help to add new perspectives and justifications for English translation of English attributive clauses.The translation of attributive clauses in economic academic monographs can use the alternatives,methods and techniques under the theory of translating.Especially in the structure of Chinese translation of attributive clauses,the theory of variation provides an effective perspective and analytical approach.Based on this,the author uses Geoffrey Allen Pigman's Trade Diplomacy Transformed as the translation practice text,and analyzes and solves the problem of Chinese translation of attributive clauses from the perspective of Huang Zhonglian's translation variation theory.In Trade Diplomacy Transformed,there are many attributive clauses,which arecomplicated and representative.Therefore,in the practice of translation,the structural relationship between the main clauses should be carefully analyzed and appropriate adjustments should be made.In the process of translation,the problems encountered by the author are mainly the change of the clause structure in the attributive clause,the multi-adverbial relationship between the subject-sentence clause in the attributive clause,and the separation of the antecedent and the clause position in the attributive clause.Through a large number of instance translations,several translation methods are listed according to translation variation theory,such as transposition,disconnection approach,translation conversion,combination and reduction,omission,fusion method,translate attributive clauses into other relational clauses and so on.It is effectively to solve the difficulty in the translation of attributive clauses.Through these practice-tested translation methods,I hope to provide some references for the translation of attributive clauses in other economic texts.
