This is a translation project report on Come Home: The Reading Brain in a Digital World written by Maryanne Wolf,of which Letter Four is chosen as the source text by the translator.This book,based on the psychological view and true cases,mainly explores how technology reshapes people's definition of reading and discusses the impact of the popularity of electronic reading devices on readers' thinking mode in the digital age.This project aims to explore the impact of ever-changing technologies on readers' reading styles,and to provide scientists with a reference for thinking about the mindsets that people read in the digital world.According to Peter Newmark's text type theory,the text belongs to the informative text.Under the guidance of communicative translation theory and coupled with several translation skills,the author combines his own translation practice to clearly convey the target language information,making the target readers easy to understand.Firstly,this report analyzes the type and characteristics of the original text.Secondly,the communicative translation theory applied in this project is introduced,and the original text is analyzed in combination with the theory.Besides,some difficulties of the project include polysemy,complex background information and the translation of long sentences,etc.To solve these difficulties,the method of addition and omission,conversion and inversion as well as division and combination are adopted.The author uses a variety of translation techniques to try to accurately convey the information of the source text,which is more receptive for the readers.Finally,the difficulties encountered in the translation project and the corresponding solutions are described in detail.
