Traditional Chinese Medicine is the treasure of China and world.Translation of Traditional Chinese Medicine text has become increasingly important in spreading Traditional Chinese Medicine culture.The source text,Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment is selected from Thirty Great Inventions in China,which introduces Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment from two aspects: treatment principle and treatment technology.The translation was conducted under the guidance of the Skopos theory.The report consists of five parts: introduction,task description,translation process description,case analysis and conclusion.The first part introduces the background,purpose and significance of the report;the second part presents the contents and features of the source text as well as the target readers;the third part states the preparation,translation process and quality control;the fourth part,which is the main part of the report,makes a detailed analysis of the difficulties in the translation practice;the fifth part summarizes the gains and limitations in the translation practice.Under the guidance of Skopos theory,the translator adopts corresponding translation methods according to the translation purpose.For the translation of Traditional Chinese Medicine terms and four-character expressions,the translator adopts transliteration with annotation,literal translation and free translation are effective methods.For the translation of books’ titles and quotations,free translation,transliteration,literal translation or a combination of various methods are adopted.For the translation of zero-subject sentences in Traditional Chinese Medicine texts,the translator concludes that the method of adding a subject or passive voice can be adopted.For the translation of paratactic sentences,the translator concludes that division and restructuring can be used.By writing this translation practice report,the translator realizes that practical experience,professional knowledge,language skills and information technology and other capabilities play an important role in translation,and hopes that the translation methods and relevant experiences summarized in the translation practice report can provide some help for the translation of Traditional Chinese Medicine texts in the future.
