| In recent years,the introduction of open courses make the learners in our country have an access to high quality educational resources.At the same time,the language barrier brings great difficulty to learners,so they have to comprehend the contents with the help of the Chinese subtitles.Open course subtitles are different from other forms of subtitles and they have their own distinctive features.Therefore,the research about Enghsh-Chinese subtitle translation of open courses bears special significance.With the third part of Harvard Open Course Positive Psychology as the research objective,this thesis,from the perspective of Adaption Theory by Verschueren,uses the questionnaire to make a comparative research of the subtitle features of the Net Ease version and the YYeTs version.The main contents of this research are as follows:1.Exploring the features of open courses;2.Comparing the differences and similarities of two Chinese subtitle versions;3.Probing into whether the version under the guidance of Adaption Theory enjoys higher degree of intelligibility;4.Exploring the English-Chinese translating strategies of open courses in the light of Adaption Theory.Through analyzing the results of questionnaire and comparing the differences and similarities of two versions,the author has found that the version with the guidance of Adaption Theory enjoys higher degree of intelligibility.Under the guidance of this theory,the translators make corresponding choices and adaptions under different situations,so the meaning of original text can be better conveyed and the comprehension barriers can be reduced to a larger extent.In the meanwhile,this thesis compares the differences and similarities and then concludes some translation strategies in the hope of improving the quality of open course subtitle translation and making contributions to the improvement of the quality of open course subtitles. |
