A Report On The Translation Of Hainan Yearbook 2017(Excerpts)

This is a translation project report on Hainan Yearbook 2017.In this translation practice report,taking the actual translation task Hainan Yearbook 2017(excerpt)as the research object,guided by the Skopos theory,the author introduces the background and translation process,focuses on the translation difficulties encountered in the process of translation practice,and elaborates on the corresponding solutions through the analysis of examples.The yearbook belongs to "informative text"according to Reiss’s text type.In order to achieve the purpose of cross-cultural communication,the author adopts variation,omission,literal translation with annotation,division,free translation.combination and sentence transformation under the guidance of skopos theory.The author also summarizes some experience obtained from the writing process of this report,hoping to provide some references for translators who engage in informative text translation.The report is made up of five chapters.Chapter one introduces the translation project,concluding the background knowledge,the source text and significance.The second chapter introduces the preparation work including translation difficulties,parallel texts,glossary making and the implementation of the plan.The third chapter is the introduction of the theory adopted by the author,mainly introducing the content of skopos theory and its three principles.The fourth chapter is a case study,which analyzes the translation of highly-frequency words,culture-loaded words,numeral abbreviations,political documents,subject-free sentences and run-on sentences from lexical and syntactic levels.Chapter five is a summary of the report.It is about some major findings,limitations,and suggestions learned by the author from the translation process.
