A Report On The C-E Translation Of Tianjin Statistical Yearbook 2020 From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

With the continuous development of globalization,intercultural communication activities among countries are becoming more and more frequent.English has become the most widely used and common language in the international community.Translation is born out of this need,and builds a bridge between Chinese and foreign languages.Tianjin statistical yearbook-2020,as an annual published by an authoritative organization,shows the international community that Tianjin’s economic operation is stable and moving in a positive direction.Its translation quality is of great significance to attracting investment and expanding the comprehensive influence of Tianjin in the world.The translator was entrusted by Tianjin Bureau of Statistics to translate the statistical indicators and chart titles in the book.The translation content involves the aspect of national economic and social development in Tianjin.It is an informative text with the purpose of explanation and has many characteristics,such as accuracy,objectivity,conciseness,wide audience,rich content and so on.The translation of this kind of text does not need to have high literary aesthetic value,but only to ensure that the translation is highly faithful to the original text on the basis of coherence rule.Under the guidance of functional Skopos theory,the author fully understands the purpose of translation,and follows the rule of fidelity and coherence to ensure the coherent expression of interlingual and intralingual.This report is divided into four parts: The first chapter gives a description of the translation task,which explains the background,textual features and the meaning of the translation task.The second chapter generally illustrates the translator’s preparation for the practice,the translating process and the post-translation proofreading.The third chapter is the core of this report.In this part,with the guidance of Skopos theory,the translator analyzes the translation cases in detail from three aspects: lexical level,syntactic level and taxtual level.The fourth chapter gives a summary of this translation practice,mainly involving the findings of this practice and the prospect for relevant future research.
