Analysis Of The English Translation And Dissemination Of Chinese Online Novels From The Perspective Of Media-translatology

From the perspective of Professor Xie Tianzhen's theory of media-translatology and the translation and dissemination of Chinese literature,the paper takes three English translation websites on Chinese Web Novels of Wuxiaworld,Gravity Tales and Volarenovel as examples in order to analyze and find why Chinese web novels are successfully accepted by foreign readers.In future,to promote the "going global" translation practice,there are five advice as follows:first,in the aspect of translator,Chinese and foreign translators are advised to cooperate with each other,with the foreign translator playing a more important role;second,China is advised to develop new approaches for the works to be spread in the target countries;third,in terms of what content will be translated and introduced,China can put more emphasis on diversity,one of which would be the popular culture and literature;it can also follow a path of "from vulgarity to elegance" and let the outstanding Chinese literature and culture "go global" in a subtle way with more attractive content;fourthly,at this stage,China can take into account the reading habit,need and preference of the target readers,and attract the readers step by step and in a manner of "from the shallow to the deep";fifthly,according to different situations,the translators can adopt a flexible set of translation strategies.This paper analyzes the reasons behind the success of translated China's web novels in being introduced into and accepted in foreign countries from five aspects:the subject,the approach,the content,the reader and the strategy.Through the analysis,the paper illustrates the implication s that can help Chinese literature and culture to be successfully translated and disseminated in the overseas.This study is of significance regarding the research finding and fill in the blank of the related field.
