The Years,Months,Days is one of the literature works of Yan Lianke, renowned contemporary writer in China. This novel is a well-received books of Yan Lianke in foreign book market. The Years,Months,Days has been translated to many languages such as French and English.Carols Roj as translated the novel into English and Brigitte Guilbaud translated into French. This thesis focused on the comparative studies of the English and French version of this novel from the perspective of Eco-Translatology.Under the guidance of Eco-Translatology theory and the three-dimension transformation methodology, this thesis analyzed the respective adaptive choice and translation strategy of the translators at the linguistic, cultural and communicative level. We also tried to summarize the reasons behind the successful promotion and marketing of this novel in the international book market. This thesis adopted the comparative and statistic methods. What we found is that the difference in translation results from the personal experience, the linguistic difference and the selection of translators on which part to be royal to.In terms of external communication, the marketing strategies in different countries differ as well. But all of them provide constructive lessons to learn and follow.Since the related studies on English and French version of one Chinese novel are still rare,we hope this thesis can contribute a part in this domain, and inspire more discussions on how we can present the Chinese literature to the overseas world.
