Guided by the audio-visual theory,this paper makes a research on the auxiliary teaching situation of Chinese films in Nigerian Chinese listening class.For foreign language teachers,listening teaching is one of the most important and difficult Chinese learning tasks,this is because learning Chinese listening skills needs a long time of practice.Over the past 20 years,Chinese films have spread to Nigeria in a variety of ways and have won the favor and popularity of the Nigerian people.Most Nigerian Chinese learners are interested in learning Chinese by watching this kind of Chinese movies.In fact,besides being a recreational activity,watching Chinese movies is a way of practicing Chinese listening.Chinese films can provide an actual language environment for Chinese learners in Nigeria.Watching Chinese films for a long time will definitely provide a sense of Chinese understanding in a subtle way.Through this thesis,I must first point out the feasibility and superiority of Chinese films in assisting Chinese listening teaching in Nigeria.This paper explores some good methods of applying Chinese films in listening class and the opinions of learners on this teaching method,provides some suitable schemes for listening class,and finds the most successful applications of Chinese films in listening teaching.Secondly,the principles that should be considered in selecting films are summarized,so as to select Chinese films which are more suitable for Chinese listening class in Nigeria.Then,through detailed analysis and summary,it is proved that Chinese film is a good audio-visual material for listening teaching in Niger.As of yet,there are no learners who are interested in the subject or able to carry out a research in this field,Therefore,this research mainly discusses how to use Chinese films to assist the listening teaching process in Chinese listening class in Nigeria,and how to enhance the students listening comprehension ability in Chinese and their attitude to the teaching of Chinese listening.In this thesis,the author uses a large number of survey methods to obtain some important information about Chinese films in Nigerian Chinese listening course,and formulates the application of Chinese films in Nigerian Chinese listening teaching.The author hopes that this thesis will provide new research direction for Chinese learners and teachers in Nigeria.
