The report is excerpted from Chapter 2 of the A Social and Cultural History of Rural Australia.This chapter introduces the development history of Australian rural society and culture from the aspects of territory,politics,economy and culture.This book is a history work,informative text,and the content of the book is complicated and authentic.And it records a large number of historical events.According to its characteristics,the translator chooses Eugene A.Nida's functional equivalence theory to direct this report.In the translation,the translator follows the guidance of functional equivalence theory without affection on the meaning of the original text.The translation version can be functionally equivalent to the original text to achieve the purpose of accurately and faithfully convey the original information.During this translation practice,the translator has classified and summarized the translation methods of words and passive sentences through specific cases.In terms of words,the translator uses the translation methods of word addition,omission and conversion.For the translation of passive sentences,the translator adopts the methods of translating passive sentences into Chinese active sentences,non-subject Sentence,and adding subjects.The translator hopes that the translation methods summarized in this translation practice report can provide some references for others to translate such texts.
