A Report On The C-e Translation Of A Regional Document—The History Of Mudanjiang,Chapter ?(Excerpt)

This is a report on the English-Chinese translation of a regional document “The History of Mudanjiang” compiled by Mudanjiang Municipal Political Consultative Conference.It has historical value,allowing readers to understand and accept the local history of Mudanjiang in easy reading.This translation task has selected some of the contents of Chapter 7—“Red Culture”,which is comprehensive and detailed with readability,elaborating the red cultural history and tradition of Mudanjiang and its surrounding areas.Great importance was attached to readability and comprehensibility in the translation process,aiming at creating a good reading experience for target readers.The text was analyzed from three levels.On lexical level,the problems of proper nouns,noun groups,domestication and foreignization were discussed;on cultural level,culture-loaded words and historical background were the main issues;and on textual level,word order and conjunction ellipsis were explored.It is hoped that through the translation of the book,the historical characteristics,soft power,cultural development and reputation of Mudanjiang will be promoted.It is also hoped that this report may provide certain reference for similar researches in the future.
