This report,based on the translation of Built for Global:Navigating International Business(Chapter Four and the Appendixes),a popular business management book,consists of four parts:project overview,the process of translation,analyses of cases and summary.Built for Global,written by two excellent business managers who have been working in Silicon Valley for many years,aims to convey the business principles,business values for overseas expansion and the steps to implement them.Presented in two literary forms:expository writing and narration,this book is characterized by a clear structure and lively style.By contrast,the contents related to business English are precise and succinct in style.This report aims to provide the approaches to and cases for the translation of popular business management books.Targeting to a wide range of readers,business management popular books encourage readers to reflect on and gain scientific business principles and put them into practice,so as to inspire their confidence in effective business management.Considering the features of text and readers and the demand of the entrusting party,the translator laid emphasis on the authentic meaning,spirit of the original text and communicative function of the original text according to the functional equivalence theory raised by Nida,thus applying various translation skills to improve semantic accuracy,readability,and the professionalism.The skills include semantic extension,amplification,the redesign of sentence structures,borrowing idioms,borrowing terms and simplification.In conclusion,the translation of popular business management books written in multiple literary forms requires the translator to stick to the principle of accuracy,improve the readability based on the text styles and targeted readers,and reach professionalism through effective expression methods,thus applying different kinds of translation standards and techniques accordingly.
