The Semantic Evolution Research Of "Hui"

This paper mainly discusses the process and mechanism of the semantic evolution of Hui,and summarizes its semantic function and path.The main work in the thesis includes:In the first part,the introduction part raises the issues of this study,explains the research object and innovation of this paper,and makes a detailed analysis of the relevant literature.It also elaborates the research methods and the sources of the corpus.In the second part,this paper summarizes the semantic functions of Hui,and divides Hui into four categories: verb meaning,noun meaning,adverb meaning and auxiliary verb meaning according to dictionaries and relevant studies of Hui by scholars.And through the semantic analysis of Hui in Three words and Two beats,it is shown that Hui in Three words and Two beats is the result of the diachronic evolution of Hui and has multiple functions.The third part,starting from the original meaning of gathering,this paper explores the semantic functions derived directly from gathering.There are two main directions in the evolution of the meaning of gathering.One is the evolution from concrete gathering to concrete gathering,the other is the evolution from concrete gathering to abstract gathering,which includes the evolution from concrete gathering to time and space gathering,from concrete gathering to nature gathering,and from concrete gathering to spiritual gathering.In the fourth part,the study on the moral function of Hui,the semantic origin and evolution of the category of cognitive modality function shows that Hui has five modality functions: moral ought,will,cognitive necessity,cognitive speculation possibility and conditional necessity,and elaborates on the causes of each function and the evolutionary relationship between each function.In the fifth part,this paper summarizes the development path of the semantic evolution of "Hui",and compares the development path of the semantic evolution of "Hui" obtained in this paper with the previous studies,analyses the differences and explains the reasons.
