The source text of this translation project is selected from the Chapter 4 of Online Teaching at Its Best:Merging Instructional Design with Teaching and Learning Research,which is written by Linda B.Nilson and Ludwika A.Goodson.This book presents us with practical advice for the design and implementation of online teaching from the perspective of cognitive psychology and pedagogy.The source text is classified into informative text in accordance with Peter Newmark's text type theory.Therefore,communicative translation strategy is adopted by the translator to ensure the readability and the accuracy of the translation work.This report consists of five parts.The first part illuminates the background,the significance and the structure of the translation project.The second part gives a brief introduction to the source text,including information on the author,the published information,the main content and the language features.The methods to translate nouns and adverbial clauses of condition are raised by the translator in the fourth part.In order to break free from the grammar of SL and accurately convey information,extension,conversion of parts of speech and word order adjustment are adopted by the translator to translate source text faithfully under the guidance of Newmark's communicative translation theory.The inspiration gained from the project and problems to be solved are presented in the fifth part.
