This is a translation project report. The source text is the Chapter 8 “Assessment and Feedback” and Chapter 9 “Using Technology” from the book The Truth About Teaching: An Evidence-Informed Guide for New Teachers by Greg Ashman. The source text discusses various ways of teaching assessment including testing, advocates abandoning the test-centered idea and the author raises doubts and concerns about the application of modern technology to classroom designing, which belongs to the informative text according to Katharina Reiss' s text typology theory.During the translation, the translator was confronted with two main difficulties at the level of lexicons and sentences.Difficulties at the lexical level are featured by terminologies and proper nouns, and at the syntactic level, they are long and complicated sentences.Guided by Peter Newmark's communicative translation theory, the translator has adopted the translating methods of conversion, inversion, division and restructuring, trying to keep the faithfulness of the source text and emphasize the expressiveness of the target language and transfer the information in a successful way.At the end of the report, the translator summarizes the lessons learned in the project for more experience in translating informative texts.
