The thesis is a translation report.The translator chooses the part 2 to part 4 of Deep Seabed Mining: A Rising Environmental Challenge as the source text which is a research report published by International Union for Conservation of Nature,with the help of Gallifrey Foundation.Focusing on the looming era of deep-sea mining,the report analyze the relationship between deep-sea mining activity and deep-sea environment from the aspect of geology,marine biology and biological oceanography,mining engineering,legal framework and economics,so as to find out the way of environmental management.The excerpts cover information involving geology,marine biology and biological oceanography,mining engineering and international law,and includes many terms and proper nouns,passive voice sentences and compound sentences,which hindered the target text delivery.Besides the target reader of the source text are the professional and even the general public who have a big difference in terms of background knowledge,the translator chooses Text Typology and Skopos as the guiding theory.The translator concludes the translation experiences through the analysis of the three rules of Skopos and translation case studies,and aims to deliver the readable information to the target reader.The author hopes that the report could be a reference for the translation of the research report.
