The English abstracts in China's agricultural journals play an important role in spreading our latest achievements of agriculture as well as increasing records and searches of agricultural journals in major retrieval systems and databases,so as to promote international exchanges and enhance our competitiveness of agriculture.This thesis is a report on the C-E translation of abstracts in papers of Journal of Guangxi Agriculture from the perspective of Newmark's text typology theory.The paper abstracts in Journal of Guangxi Agriculture belong to informative text,with the aim to completely convey the information of source text to the target reader.This thesis consists of four main chapters.Chapter One serves as a brief introduction to the thesis,including task description,studies on the translation of abstracts and organization of the report.Chapter Two is the process description,covering pre-task preparation,translating process and post-task evaluation and feedback.Chapter Three is the case analyses from the perspective of Newmark's text typology theory,conducting an overview of the theory and presenting cases from lexical,syntactical and textual levels.Chapter Four concludes the thesis by discussing major findings,lessons learned and implications for future studies.It is hoped that the thesis will shed light on the C-E translation of the similar kind of texts.
