This paper is an English-Chinese translation report,which selects from "Plantation Silviculture in Europe".The book studies the development of plantations in Europe,including environmental and social factors affecting plantation.China is a large silviculture country,so the advanced European forest technology is worth learning.The translation of the book will help guide the China's fast-growing plantation activities.The translator is responsible for translating the Chapter 2 and Chapter 9 of this book.Chapter 2:Plantations and long-term productivity.Chapter 9:Nutrition and Fertilizer.The report is divided into five parts:introduction,project description,translation process,case analysis and conclusion.The key part is case analysis,which discusses the traditional and Google translation methods.First of all,the translator summarizes four common traditional methods:translation in order,cutting long sentences into short ones,amplification and omission,readjusting the order of sentences.Then on this basis,the translator explains Google's use from these aspects:technical terms,proper nouns,general vocabulary,simple sentences and complex sentences.Through this translation report,the author has a basic knowledge of plantation,sums up the translation method,and has a profound understanding of the characteristics of Google translation.The author knows how to use machine translation to improve translation efficiency,and it will act as a reference for similar text in future.
