Light and shadow are important elements of oil painting.The application of light and shadow in oil painting and its visual impact on the picture are the focus of this paper.As the language of oil painting,light and shadow have strong expressive power.In different stages of oil painting development,the use of light and shadow in oil painting is different,even in the same period,the painter's use of light and shadow is different.Fully exploring the characteristics of light and shadow and enriching the artistic expression effect of oil painting is one of the powerful expression elements of oil painting with the characteristics of the times.The use of light and shadow in oil painting is not only the religious complex of classical oil painters,but also the way they explore and understand the world.From the perspective of visual perception,this paper analyses the use of light and shadow in the picture,which is more intuitive and more appropriate to our visual psychological feelings.The introduction part elaborates the research background and significance,main contents,ideas and methods,literature review at home and abroad,and definition of related concepts.The first chapter gives an overview of light and shadow,and clarifies the relationship between light and shadow,oil painting and other forms of language.Only by straightening out the relationship between them can we better carry out the specific discussion.The second chapter discusses the visual psychological characteristics and manifestations of light and shadow application in different periods and types of oil paintings.Due to the influence of different historical,political and cultural backgrounds,painters in different periods use light and shadow to create different styles of art works,and different types of light and shadow will also bring different visual and psychological feelings.Different light and shadow applications can create unique visual effects and better convey the main idea of the picture.The third chapter elaborates the role of light and shadow in oil painting.Light and shadow,as an important formal language of oil painting,play a significant role in the picture.This chapter analyses and discusses specific paintings and illustrates them with illustrations,which is intuitive and clear.The fourth chapter is to discuss the significance of the application of light and shadow in oil painting,that is,aesthetic significance and practical significance.Early European oil painting served religion,so only by understanding the aesthetic significance of light and shadow in religion can we better study the development process of light and shadow in oil painting.From Renaissance to Impressionism,the study of the use of light and shadow itself is also the artist's exploration of the mysteries of nature,with a scientific spirit.The research on the use of light and shadow is full of practical significance,which has different degrees of inspiration to modern and contemporary painters.It is the use of light and shadow that modern and contemporary painters enhance the expressive force of the picture and form their own unique style and appearance,which is of great help to the author's own creation.Based on the direct grasp of human visual psychology,this paper studies the application of light and shadow in oil painting from the perspective of psychology,hoping to help the research of light and shadow.Because the scope of this study is from the birth of oil painting to the Impressionist school before the nineteenth century,the time span is long,the representative painters listed and analyzed are limited,the analysis and demonstration inevitably have shortcomings,I hope that experts and scholars criticize and correct!...
