A Report On The C-E Translation Of EPC Of Duck Manure Based Biogas Power Generation Project—tender Documents

With the development of economic globalization,the business contacts between China and other countries in the world are increasingly frequent.Therefore,more and more foreign enterprises flood into China and have established a great amount of business cooperation with many domestic enterprises,which leads to bidding and tendering,an important trade method,being adopted in international trade widely,thus the translation of tender documents is increasing day by day.This report takes the translation of “EPC of Duck Manure Based Biogas Power Generation Project——Tender Documents” as an example to illustrate the Chinese-English translation of tender documents,with detailed analysis of the difficulties in the translation of tender documents and relevant solutions.This report mainly analyzes three major difficulties in the Chinese-English translation of “EPC of Duck Manure Based Biogas Power Generation Project——Tender Documents”,namely,the difficulties in the translation of technical terms,translation of modal verbs and translation of “的” expressions in Chinese.And then,under the guidance of Functional Equivalence Theory,the translator summarizes the corresponding translation techniques and methods.In the report,firstly the author briefly introduces the background and requirements of the project,followed by a brief description of the translation process to the project,including preparation of the glossary,the analysis of the source text,project schedule,theoretical preparation,translating process with the aid of MemoQ,proofreading and quality control.And then,in the case study,the author adopts literal translation and liberal translation in respect of the translation of technical terms which are encountered in the task of translation.As for the translation of modal verb,the author applies amplification and diction.In terms of the translation of “的” expressions in Chinese,the author attempts to translate them into adverbial clauses,attributive clauses and noun phrases,so as to make the target text most faithful to the original text.In addition,according to the translation practice,the author also puts forward specific and reasonable suggestions for legal texts,including the translation of non-subject sentence,long and complicated sentences,and texts of frozen style in tender document.Finally,on the basis of the translation project practice,the author further puts forward specific suggestions for the translation of tender documents.The author hopes that above-mentioned translation techniques,methods and suggestions can provide some useful reference for the Chinese-English translation of the tender documents in the future and make a few contributions to the research of tender documents translation.
