Explicitation is a universal translation phenomenon, and more and more Chinese scholars study it and apply it to translation practice.Explicitation means to turn something vague and ambiguous in meaning or structure into something clear and obvious. This practice report takes the first four chapters of The Ten Types of Human as examples to explore the guiding role of explicitation in translation. The original text covers a lot of neuroscience and psychology thus the content is somewhat obscure. This report includes five aspects.Firstly, the author introduces the translation task, source text and significance of the translation. The second part presents the translation process. The third part is the literature review about explicitation. Then by comparing the source text and the translation, the author found that explicitation can be realized from three aspects:lexical explicitation, syntactic explicitation and textual explicitation. Finally, the author summarizes the guidance role of the explicitation. It is indicated that explicitation has direct and effective guiding role in ambiguous in meaning and structure of this text.
