A Report On The Sight Interpreting For Zuckerberg's Speech At Harvard University:Problems And Solutions From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

The world today is a new era that people from different countries and nations communicate and cooperate with each other frequently and more closely than ever before.This paper is a report on the practice of simulated interpretation.The author takes Zuckerberg's speech at Harvard University graduation ceremony as the source language of the interpretation and carries out the practice of a simulated sight interpreting.The report mainly includes four parts:task description,theoretical basis,case analysis and conclusion.Under the guidance of Skopos Theory,the author takes the difficulties encountered in the practice of interpretation as examples,to discuss about the problems that she encountered in interpretation.There are three major problems:incomplete interpretation,unfaithful interpretation and incoherent interpretation.According to the three basic principles of Skopos Theory,namely the skopos rule,the coherence rule and the fidelity rule,the causes of the problem and the solutions are analyzed in detail.Finally,the author makes a reflection upon the interpretation practice from the perspective of Skopos Theory and puts forward to some suggestions in the hope of avoiding similar problems in future interpreting practice.
