A Report On Interpreting Practice Of The Simulated BRICS Meeting From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

With the rapid development of the economy, China has kept a close relationship with different countries around the world in economy and politics.This has promoted translation industry transform from traditional translation industry to modern translation industry naturally. Meantime, the interpreter has played an increasingly important role in cultural communication. Therefore, I wrote the Simulated BRICS meeting from the prospective of skopos theory to provide some guidance to simultaneous interpreting.This report is based on the interpreting practice of BRICS meeting cooperated by Foreign language College of Liaoning University and the College of International Relationship of Liaoning University. The thesis aims to solve the cultural differences of interpreting issues in simultaneous interpreting. Furthermore,the author hopes to provide guidance to interpreting practice guided by skopos theory.The procedure of this practice report is as follows. The author gives a brief introduction,makes some analysis and does a summary to this interpreting task.The interpreter did simultaneous interpreting most time, but did consecutive interpreting sometimes. In order to finish the practice of Simultaneous interpreting well, the interpreter mainly guided by the skopos theory in this BRICS meeting.Finally, the interpreter made a case analysis to provide some guidance to interpreting practice.This report includes three parts: an introduction, the main body, a conclusion.The first part is the introduction. It introduces the current situation of simultaneous interpreting and the significance of the essay.The second part is the main body, it consists of three parts:The first chapter is the task description of the BRICS meeting. Firstly, the author introduces the background knowledge of BRICS meeting. Secondly, the author introduces theories which are used to guide this thesis.The second chapter introduces the process of this BRICS meeting. Firstly, the author introduces the preparation of interpreting, including the preparation of background knowledge,glossary, cultural difference between China and other countries. Secondly,the author gave a brief introduction to the process of this interpreting. Thirdly,the author made a summary of this BRICS meeting.The third chapter is case analysis guided by skopos theory. This chapter uses some interpreting strategies guided by skopos theory. Meanwhile,this chapter uses the three principles of skopos theory. Then the author made case analysis guided by skopos theory, including the strategy of paraphrase, cultural transformation,logic explanation. Finally,the author made case analysis from the aspects of anticipation, amplification and omission guided by skopos theory.The last part is the conlusion. The author made a brief summary to the whole essay.
