On September 20th,2017,the Province Regional Economic Development Seminar of Hebei Province was held at Power Valley International Hotel,Baoding,Hebei Province,at which the famous British economist Christopher Pissarides delivered a speech on the topic“Xiongan New Area and the Development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region”.In this report, the interpreter did whispered interpreting on the speech. After the seminar,by replaying the live recording for many times and carefully analyzing the interpreting, the interpreter wrote this report to summarize the whole interpreting process. The practice report consists of five parts:task description, process description, preparation for interpreting, case analysis and conclusion. The first part mainly describes the source of the report. The second part briefly introduces the interpreting process of the whole practice. The third and fourth parts are the core parts. The third part chiefly illustrates the preparatory work, including collecting the background materials, making terminology, preparing interpreting theory about Gile's Effort Model, and observing the condition of the hotel. The fourth part contains two parts, the interpreting strategies applied in the interpreting and the deficiencies and coping tactics, which are analyzed based on the Gile's Effort Model. The former mostly discusses the application of whispered interpreting strategies, such as syntactic linearity, sight interpreting, omission, anticipation and addition, while the latter depicts the deficiencies and coping tactics of the process. The last part summarizes the experience and lessons gained from this practice to provide the interpreter some reference for the subsequent interpreting practice.
