This report is based on an interpreting practice conducted by the author for a business report seminar of China Huadian Cooperation(CHD).In this report,the author firstly gives a brief introduction to the interpreting task,including the information of the client,the users of the interpreting and the interpreter herself.Then the author gives a specific description of the pre-interpreting preparation.Based on the transcript of this interpreting,the author carries out cases analysis of interpreting strategies and the merits and shortcomings in the performance from the perspective of the three main rules of Skopos Theory.According to Skopos Theory,interpreting strategies and methods are determined by the purpose of interpreting activity.Skopos Theory believes that,in the process of interpreting,interpreters should combine specific contextual factors with expected functions of the translation,and select the best way to deal with the source text.In the final part,the author lists major findings of the analysis,the feedback from the clients,self reflection and in the end the summary of the report.With the analysis of this interpreting task,on one hand,the author attempts to improve her own interpreting competence.On the other hand,the author intends to share with the fellow interpreters useful interpreting strategies under the perspective of Skopos Theory.
