A Project Report On C-E Translation Of Ecological Progress On The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau

Issued by the State Council Information Office of the People's Republic of China,Ecological Progress on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is a White PaPer with clear standpoint,standard writing,concise language and rigorous structure.It describes China's ecological progress on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau from the perspectives of the system of ecological progress,ecosystem conservation,improvement of environmental quality,development of green industry,sci-tech supporting system,and ecological culture.With the translation of the first five parts of the whole source text being the research object,this project report puts emphasis on major difficulties and solutions to them in the course of translation.Based on the analysis of project background and language and structure of the source text,this report illustrates key points and difficulties in the process of translation,and accordingly,provides some solutions with the great assistance of Reiss9 Text Typology,conducts a comparison between the translator's version and the reference,and in the end summarizes translation experience.The difficulties in translation mainly lie in three aspects:translation of terms with Chinese characteristics,translation of technical terms and translation of complex sentences.Under the guidance of Reiss' Text Typology,the report puts forward various translation methods to address those difficulties combined with analyzing specific examples.Free translation,literal translation and annotation can be adopted to solve difficulties in translating terms with Chinese characteristics.Literal translation,conversion and omission can be utilized for the translation of technical terms.Combination,addition and inversion can be opted for the translation of complex sentences.Besides analysis of major difficulties and solutions,this project is also designed to demonstrate the linguistic and textual features of White Papers,and C-E translation techniques and some recommendations,further to provide reference for the translation of White Papers on environment.
