Teachers are found to be a community prone to suffer from job burnout frequently which has negtive impacts on the development of the teachers,students and schools.Compared with the senior English teachers in public middle schools,the ones in private middle schools possess their own peculiar seriousness in job burnout.The purpose of this study is to get a general picture of the status of senior English teachers' job burnout in private middle schools,explore the causes behind this phenomenon and provide the relevant solutions to it.The correlation between job burnout and the related demographic variables including sex,age,teaching years,teaching grade,academic degree,professional title and salary are analyzed by questionnaires and interviews,based on the samples of senior English teachers in private middle schools chosen from Jiangxi,Guangdong,Zhejiang and other provinces.Three main questions are discussed through quantitative and qualitative methods,including:(1)Is there job burnout among senior English teachers in private middle schools?(2)If the answer is yes,how serious is their overall job burnout and what are the characteristics of their job burnout under the related demographic variables?(3)What are the causes and the corresponding countermeasures of senior English teachers' job burnout in private middle schools?Research results indicate that:(1)There exists job burnout among senior English teachers in private middle schools.The degree of their job burnout is a little serious.The teachers' emotional exhaustion is the most serious among the three dimensions of job burnout,followed by depersonalization,and ended with reduced personal accomplishment.(2)The senior English teachers in private middle schools possess their unique characteristics in job burnout under the related demographic variables including sex,age,teaching years,teaching grade,academic degree,professional title and salary.Besides,the causes concerning their job burnout are analyzed systematically from the perspectives of the system,society,organization,profession,discipline,teachers and students,and the corresponding countermeasures are also put forward.
