| Guided by Susan Bassnett's theatre translation theory,the report took two of the five theatre translation strategies put forward by Bassnett,namely,"using the source language culture context as a frame text" and "translating 'Performability^"as the translation goals.The translator took the play script of the British classic Pride and Prejudice adapted by the famous Canadian playwright Janet Munsil as the translation text and selected the first ten scenes in Act One as the translating text,using multiple translation methods to explore the practicability of the two strategies,namely,"using the source language culture context as a frame text" and"translating 'Performability'" and the function of Bassnett's theatre translation theory in terms of instructing theatre translation practice.This practice report is divided into four chapters.The first chapter consists of the introduction of the translation project,source text and its author,as well as the goal and significance of the translation practice.The second chapter is the translation process,including translation preparation,translation process and translation revision,mainly analyzes the text type and relevant literature,and introduces the translation process and post-translation revision and improvement work.The third chapter is case analysis.It mainly introduces Susan Bassnett's theatre text translation theory,namely,Theory of Translating for the Theatre,and the corresponding theatre translation strategies that she put forward.Guided by two of the strategies,translation methods of transliteration,free translation,annotation,repetation,amplification and negation are used to translate the text at this part,to retain the framework of the source language culture and to achieve the goal of "Performability".Chapter four summarizes the translation practice,lists the problems encountered in the translation process,and the enlightenment of this practice. |
