The Order of Time was published by Penguin Publishing Group in April 2018 and authored by Carlo Rovelli,a famous Italian physicist. The book, with time as the theme, explains the nature of time. The author of the book believes that it is human's rich emotions that make up our short life and make us aware of time, which breaks our previous understanding of time. And the translation report is selected from chapters 8-11 of the book. The Order of Time is a popular science reading with humorous and concise language. However, due to the professionality of the book and the differences in logic, thinking and expression habits between English and Chinese, the translator faces great challenges in the process of translation. In translation, the translator, guided by Newmark's communicative translation strategy, tries to to accurately understand the original information and reproduce the language style of the original text.According to the difficulties encountered in translation, the translator mainly discusses how to deal with vocabularies, complex sentences and dashes. This report is divided into five parts: The first part is the background introduction, including the reasons why the translator chooses this book, and the significance of translating this book. The second part is the task description, including the content and features of the book. The third part describes the translation process, including pre-translation preparation, the creation of terminology and the modification after translating. The fourth part is the case analysis, which discusses how to deal with difficult problems in translation and shows the combination of practice and translation methods. The last part is a conclusion. The translator summaries what she has gained from the translation and reflects on the deficiencies in the translation.
