| This thesis is a translation report on the Chapter 3 of The Original Australians—Story of Aboriginal People.The content of Chapter 3 mainly focuses on the story of the original Australians in Tasmania and Victoria thousands of years ago.Based on evidence and quotations from explorers and historians,the author restores the stories of the Aborigines and leads the readers to a new understanding of the Aborigines.It is an information text with great research value.The first chapter of this report is an introduction to the translation project.The second chapter introduces the preparatory work,the implementation of translation practice and the later revision work.The third chapter is case analysis;it summarizes the difficulties in the translation.Examples are given to analyze the translation methods used in dealing with vocabulary and long sentences,such as choice of word meanings,extension,the linear translation,restructuring,splitting etc.Finally,the translator analyzes how to deal with the sentences with dashes.Using the methods can enhance the readability of the translation.Chapter Four concludes the experience gained from the practice and the suggestions for the future.Through this translation practice,the translator has learnt to use some translation methods and techniques more flexibly,as well as gaining deeper insight into the culture of Aboriginal Australians.This translation practice is not only beneficial to the translator himself,but also provides a reference for other translators and readers studying Australian indigenous issues. |
