With the increasing contacts among different countries in the field of medical science,China has also been constantly promoting the international exchanges and cooperation in medical science in recent years. Therefore, the translation of medical text has become more imperative, which directly affects information transmission and acquisition. The translation task of Clinical Research Coordinator's Handbook(excerpt)is commissioned by the MedKey Company to provide relevant workers a professional introduction of clinical research coordinators. On the basis of Skopos Theory, the author takes the English-Chinese translation of the medical text as an example to explore the problems encountered by the author in the translation from lexical, syntactical and textual levels and relevant translation techniques to solve these problems. At first, the author introduces the project background, requirements and significance of this translation. Then,it shows translation preparations which make the translation process clearer.Afterwards, the author introduces problems encountered in the translation process, such as amphibious vocabularies, abbreviations, passive voices, long and complex sentences. The translator solves these problems by using diction, conversion, synthesis, amplification and omission under the guidance of Skopos Theory. At last;it is mainly about the feedbacks,self-assessment and suggestions of this translation. After this translation practice, firstly, translators should be familiar with relevant background knowledge and terminologies in medical field by looking for parallel texts and relevant professional books to complete this translation.Secondly, medical translation requires translators to be proficient in both languages. Finally, the author hopes that this report can provide some references to later study of medical text translation.
