| As one efficient form of interpreting,simultaneous interpreting is an important means of international communication.With the development of globalization,exchanges between countries around the world are becoming increasingly frequent.At the same time,the market demand for simultaneous interpreting is higher.In addition to mastering solid bilingual ability and establishing good psychological quality,interpreters also need to flexibly grasp some strategies during the simultaneous interpreting.With limited effort distribution,many interpreters tend to use simplification strategy during the high-load simultaneous interpreting.However,there are some differences of linguistic structure and social background between English and Chinese.Therefore,interpreters should appropriately use addition strategy to add relevant parts of speech,grammatical meaning and social background knowledge.In this way,the target language can be more natural,more accurate and more complete.Good cooperation between speakers and audience can be established.Addition strategy can help interpreters finish interpreting tasks more smoothly.In the light of Grice’s Cooperative Principle,this report quotes four Maxims of Cooperative Principles——the Maxim of Quantity,the Maxim of Quality,the Maxim of Relevance and the Maxim of Manner.The author chooses US President Donald Trump’s talk at 2018 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting as a study case and does the E-C simultaneous interpreting without draft.After comparing her own interpreting outputs and the official ones,the author finds obvious additions and classify them.They are respectively additions of parts of speech,additions of grammatical meaning and additions of background knowledge.At last,the author concludes features,effectiveness and necessity of each addition means.The author hopes that this report can help interpreters use addition strategy with ease and gives some hint for further study in this aspect. |
