Report On The Translation Of Tam Lin In The Light Of Communicative Translation Theory

Translation is a bridge between two languages.Cultural exchange promote the integration and development of world civilization.In order to exchange the culture between China and foreign countries,China began to translate foreign literary works in the Late Qing Dynasty.Up to now,Literary translation has shown a flourishing scene.With the popularity of Fantasy literarure in recent years,there are more and more researches on it whose main expression is fairy tale.The material novel of this tranlation report is a fantasy novel named Tam Lin.It mainly tells the love story between Janet and Tam Lin.This paper is a translation report on Tam Lin excerpt(Chapter1——Chapter3)under the guidance of Communicative Translation Theory.Guided by Newmark's Communicative Translation Theory,the report introduces the development and shortcomings of it.Communicative Translation Theory is a theory summarized by Newmark in his long-term translation practice.It emphasizes the influence on readers.There are a lot of dialogues and psychological descriptions in this practical material So the translation style and form should conform to the language style of college students.The practice report adopts the methods of literature research and experience summary.By reading a large number of relevant documents and the author's own practice,the difficulties encountered in the process of translation are analyzed,and the rationality of the theory to guide the translation of fantasy literature is analyzed through specific cases such as environment,characters,dialogue and so on.In the process of translation,the combination of literal translation and free translation is used to achieve smooth and complete translation.Under the guidance of Communicative Translation Theory,specific translation techniques such as augmentation,transliteration and omission are adopted to make the translation smooth.I hope this translation report will be helpful in the future.
