With the development of information technology,the application level of urban informatization has been continuously improved and the construction of smart city came into being.Building a smart city is of great significance in achieving the sustainable development of a city,leading the application of information technology,and enhancing the comprehensive competitiveness of the city.The original text is excerpted from Smart City Implementation:Creating Economic and Public Value in Innovative Urban Systems published by Springer.This report consists of two parts,the translated text and the translation practice report.The translated text(TT)is the translation of the first chapter of the book Smart City Implementation with a total number of more than 13,000 words.The translation practice report is made up of four chapters:chapter 1 is Task Description,mainly describing the source of the translation task;Chapter 2 is Translation Process,describing how the author translates English into Chinese with the aid of a variety of translation tools to maximize its faithfulness to the original text.Chapter 3 is Case Analysis,exploring the translation at lexical,syntactical and discourse levels with specific examples under the guidance of Skopos theory.Chapter 4 discusses the translation experience and reflections as well as unresolved problems of the author.It is hoped that the report can promote target readers' understanding of smart city and provide reference in translating English text of science and technology(EST).
