| With the rapid development of science and technology, the translation of English for science and technology(EST)plays an increasingly significant role in the international scientific and technological exchanges.Under the guidance of four principles of Skopos Theory, this paper takes the text of the green and smart building as case analysis,in order to summarize translation methods, optimize translation quality, and finally,to offer reference and guidance for EST translation in China. The source texts(ST)of the report are excerpts from Green and Smart Buildings:Advanced Technology Options written by Professor Nilesh Y.Jadhav,Nanyang University of Technology(NTU),Singapore. On the basis of translation practice, this report consists of four chapters.Chapter One describes the translation task, including background and significance of the task, introduction to the ST,literature review of EST,as well as stylistic features of EST.Chapter two deals with the task process, including three aspects:the theoretical framework, the translation procedure and the quality control.Chapter Three, the major part of this report, serves as case analysis.Guided by the three principles of Skopos Theory plus the loyalty principle, this chapter analyzes relevant translation strategies and methods from the lexical, syntactic and textual level. In the final part, the author summarizes findings and problems in the process of translation practice.Through this translation task and the report, the author has enhanced the understanding of EST translation, and enriched translation studies of the green and smart building texts in China. In the analysis of the text,This paper innovatively introduces the fourth principle on the basis of the three principles of Skopos Theory,so as to provide more comprehensive dimensions to guide translation. It is expected that the research methods of this thesis will bring enlightenment to EST translation, thus promoting the transmission of EST in a more objective way. |
