A Report On E-C Translation Of User Manual Of IOLMaster 700

The IOLMaster invented by Zeiss in Germany has solved the problem of accurately measuring the eye and calculating the eye lens before eye surgery.At present,IOLMaster 700,as the latest generation of IOLMaster,has been introduced into China and it will be widely used in cataract surgery and excimer laser surgery.However,there is only English version of User Manual of IOLMaster 700 nowadays,which makes it difficult for domestic doctors to understand the user manual and operate the instrument,and hinders the progress and development of medical technologies in China.Therefore,the translation of the IOLMaster 700 user manual is of great practical significance.The translation Skopos Theory is put forward by two German functionalists,Hans Vermeer and Christina Nord.It is one of the most influential translation theories in the West,and it is made up of three main principles which are Skopos rule,coherence rule and fidelity rule.Guided by the above principles,the author combines with various translation skills and methods to complete the translation of User Manual of IOLMaster 700,on the basis of which the translation report is finished.The report mainly includes four parts:task description,translation process,case analysis and practice summary.The first part introduces the background and characteristics of the source text and the purpose and significance of the task.The second part mainly introduces the preparations and procedure of the task and the quality control.The third part analyses translation cases at lexical level and syntactic level.The last part summarizes the translation experiences and lessons and problems to solve.The author selects the user manual of the latest IOLMaster's as the translation material,on the basis of which she works out the translation report,hoping both the translation script and the report will make a contribution to the popularization and application of IOLMaster 700 in the medical field in China,to play an active role in promoting the level of ophthalmic surgery,and to provide an important reference for the future translation of the user manuals of medical instruments.
